Project Title:

Sistema Citlaltépetl

Subtitle:

A Transformational Infrastructure Initiative for Water Security, Sustainable Growth, and Regional Resilience

Abstract:

The Sistema Citlaltépetl project, launched by Kingdom Capitol Investments S RL de CV, is a pioneering infrastructure effort aimed at addressing Mexico’s escalating water crisis through a holistic and sustainable model. Harnessing rain and meltwater from Pico de Orizaba, the project will provide over one billion cubic meters of fresh water annually to Mexico City and its surrounding regions. With a robust network of public-private partnerships (PPPs), a $300 million ODT funding foundation, and integration with green infrastructure and reforestation efforts, the initiative delivers both immediate and long-term socio-economic benefits. Beyond access to water, the program generates large-scale employment, boosts biodiversity, and reinforces Mexico's role in South-South collaboration. Anchored in SDG and ESG principles, the project also serves as a blueprint for replicable water infrastructure in the Global South, including future applications in the Horn of Africa.
